Nice flat sites that are screened from other visitors. Good rainforest walk to the waterfall. Interesting information on the hydro power and its history. Viewing platform of the river and hydro system a short walk from base.
This place is beautiful!
We stayed in the highlander cabins right at the back which are really nice and perfect for a 1-2 night stay before continuing on our road trip. Felt very secluded and comfortable.
The surrounding property is beautiful to explore - there are some walking trails - although when we went they were not maintained and it could do with a few more signs to show the way.
Seeing all the wildlife and meeting the cows was an awesome little treat.
My partner and I completed 6 days on the Overland in mid-August 2023, and looking for somewhere to relax the weekend before returning to work we decided to stay at the Tarraleah Lodge. It was absolutely perfect. Being winter we had the entire place to ourselves, and the personalised, very accommodating service began from the moment I booked. The building and surrounds are stunning, with lots of wildlife (and, of course, the gorgeous highland cattle) and our room (Executive Wilderness Suite) was superb. The nearby tavern is a nice, relaxed spot for dinner and drinks. Our entire stay we were looked after by the wonderful Chris who set breakfast at whenever time we liked, provided us with lunch knowing there were limited options at that time of year, and then cooked the most amazing private dinner for us on the Saturday night. I seriously cannot express how good that steak was, thank you so much Chris!! We also booked some time in the hot tub, which is beautifully set-up. I have stayed at a few places around Tassie but this is an absolute hidden gem, very quiet and relaxed, and the staff were truly excellent. Thank you for such a wonderful experience, I have no doubt we will be back!
We did not stay here. We found directions very lacking. Only parking we could find for caravan was at lookout. Tried to then drive to cafe (maybe 800m) but found it difficult to find park or even turn around. Did not do to cafe as was not easily accessible. Signage was very poor.
What an amazing location. We were there for a wedding and it was lovely. Stayed in the lodge and the rooms were wonderful.
We had a magical 2 nights in the lodge. Tarraleah is such a beautiful place with so much to explore. The walking trails on the property are fantastic and easy to access. Our room in the lodge was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The …
OMG. what a pleasure to come across this gem. Amenities, service and price. 6 star living on a 3 star budget. Extremely welcoming to carvaners and guests.
What an amazing estate in the middle of nowhere. They have walking tracks, highland cows and a restaurant. The accommodation we got the cheap cabin had great amenities (bed was very uncomfortable thou). Staff are super friendly. The highlight was the cows and all the other wildlife.
My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend here, and enjoyed such special treatment. Everything was perfect, from the Sparkling on arrival, to the amazing art Deco room and surrounds, to the walks among highland cows, goats and other …
We stayed at the caravan park section of the accommodation. Great sized sites in various areas with power and water.
No Camp kitchen or cooking facilities. …
